Scuba Baileys

Jason and I decided to become scuba certified. We have a great friend that is an instructor so we were able to have him teach us. We went to a swimming pool a couple of times and learned the skills we needed. I got frustrated with my ears because they just wouldn't clear for me so it took me a long time to get down even to 12 feet in the pool. Yesterday we did our last dive to become certified. It was at the crater in Midway. This has to be one of the neatest things I have ever done. It was amazing being able to swim underwater so long. We passed off the requirements and then swam around for awhile. We surfaced to talk for a minute and then did the next dive to pass of the rest of the requirements. While we were underwater during the first dive our instructor asked us how much air we had left. Jason read his wrong so when we surfaced he told us how much he had and it wasn't a lot! We had to go down quick and take our masks off, clear the water out of them and then buddy breathe on the way up. So Jason acted like he was out of air and I let him use my extra mouthpiece, but really he was almost out of air. It was a blast! These are some pictures of the crater, they are just from the internet, we didn't take them. If you have ever wanted to learn to scuba dive I would really recommend it!

Inside the crater, it is beautiful!

Feline Adventures

I swear my cat can catch anything! To date she has brought in grasshoppers, moths, bees, flies, birds, mouse, and snakes.
So this afternoon DJ and I were minding our own business when I look over and on the floor is a garter snake that our cat went out and wrangled up. I am not going to lie, I did scream once or twice trying to get it back outside. When I was younger I would have picked it up no problem. I guess becoming a mom makes you squimish around untamed, wild snakes. I knew I had to document the situation so I put DJ in his crib and got my phone and the camera. I took a picture with the phone to send to Jason and then 2 pictures so you could actually see what is in the picture (my phone doesn't take good pictures!) Once the modeling session was over I found a tupperware big enough to throw over the snake. I got close and it started squirming away. Luckily for me, the cat took control and wrangled the snake again. After a couple of tries, I got the snake trapped. I scooted it over to the door and lifted the tupperware a little and it slithered away(probably to be brought back in later tonight).

I guess that is what happens when the cats name is Buzz Lightyear. She goes out to infinity and beyond to show us she loves us.

I'm growing

Jason says this is his dorky hairdo, but I think it is cute! After rescheduling two times, we finally made it in for DJ's doctor visit. He says he looks healthy and is developing well. His new measurements are: weight 15.13 pounds, 27 1/4 inches long and 43.5 head circumference. That means he is in the 9th percentile for weight, almost the 50th percentile for length, 50th percentile for head circumference. He is sure a cutie! Here is what his hair usually looks like because it is curly and has a mind of it's own.

Look What I Can Do

I am becoming such a big boy.
I can hold my own bottle (most of the time). If it falls out just a little I can put it back in my mouth. Sometimes it falls too far and I have to cry for mommy to come give it to me again.

I am still trying to figure out the best technique for holding a bottle, but I am getting the hang of it.

I also love to look at myself in the mirror. It is probably because I am so handsome! I can almost sit up all by myself. I think a couple more days with help from mom and dad and I will be a pro.

Who wouldn't want to look in the mirror if you saw this?

Blessing June 6, 2010

Dawson was blessed on June 6, 2010.
It was a memorable event for a couple of different reasons! That morning I got up extra early to make the food for after the blessing and also to make sure we got to church on time, we have a hard time with that part.

Since I am an avid facebooker (Jason thinks I am addicted) I checked facebook. It was a good thing I did because a neighbor posted that church was canceled due to a crime scene. My first thought was "Oh crap, now what do we do." I told Jason and I think he thought about the same thing I did. I was thinking of calling the friend that posted on facebook, but as I was about to dial their number our phone rang. It was them calling to tell us the news. We decided to still hold the blessing but have it at our house instead. We called the bishop and got it approved.

So Jason called and texted everyone and told them to call others so everyone would be aware that it was now at our house, while I got the food going. Thanks to my mom and dad coming over early, we were able to get things done.

We had invited a lot of people, but didn't really know who was planning to come. All I can say is that our house was PACKED!!! Once everyone was inside I don't think there was any extra room except for inside the circle for the blessing. I was so amazed at how many people showed up. It was very special to see so many people there to love and support us.

During the blessing a lot of sniffing was going on. I guess a lot of people are allergic to cats? After the blessing the bishop asked Jason and I to say something. I was hoping that I would get out of that since it wasn't at the church, guess not. Jason and I were both overwhelmed with emotion for the love we have for DJ, his birth family, our families, and friends.

We were just thankful so many people came and that it was a nice day outside, so people could eat out there too.I didn't get a lot of pictures, and none of them show how crowded it was in our house.

So come to find out some young boy was stabbed at our church early in the morning. The boy was taken to the hospital in a helicopter. Police were there investigating, but didn't find the person who stabbed him.

Memorial Weekend 2010

Since it was Memorial Day, Mom and Dad had Monday off work so we were able to go on a fun trip. Enjoy some pictures from our adventures.
We had to wake up really early and drive a long time! Our first stop was in Moab, at Hole in the Rock. We went inside the store and I found this cool hat. I felt like a real Mountain Man!
Daddy let me sit in this really cool Jeep. It was made out of license plates.
Man, I can't wait until I am able to drive one of these.

Then my cousins and I found this neat mine cart.
We just had to try it out.

Then Mom and Dad took me to a tee-shirt shop. I was able to get my own Moab shirt. Actually the store was out of my size so mom and dad undressed me right in the store and had them use my undershirt. I was so embarrassed, I was in a store practically naked! But I was able to get a customized shirt that matches mommy and daddy's.

Here are a couple of pictures of us all wearing our matching shirts.

Then we went to Arches National Park. Where we hiked to see Delicate Arch.
Here we are with it in the distance.

Then we hiked and saw the two window arches. Those were pretty cool too.
You can see part of both windows in the background of this picture.

I got to ride on daddy's back the entire trip.
Here I am with Daddy.
It was fun, and I must say that I am really good at riding around all day.
I even fell asleep a couple of times, but don't tell anyone.
The next day we went on two different hikes.
First we went to a slot canyon. It was really pretty,
and fun when the walls of the canyon got close together.
I wasn't sure if I was going to make it
through some of those tight spots.

This is where we stopped to eat lunch. I was really hungry by this time.
Brianna found a cool seat so I had to join her for a picture.
Here we are hiking some more.
I liked to look out the side to make sure daddy stayed on the right path,
and didn't run me into any walls. Here we are again. Did you notice yet that we all have camo pants on?

We were pretty tired after that last hike, but we wanted to go see Goblin Valley.
Here is a picture of what I got to see there.
It was really neat, I just couldn't stop thinking about coming back when I could run around and play in the goblins.
This is us taking a rest and drinking my bottle. It is tiring work riding all day!
I had a fantastic weekend with Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Jessi, and my cousins!
I am excited for my next adventure!
